Life Drawing

Last night I went to a life drawing class at the Last Tuesday Society. I've not done a drawing class for a few years and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself. For the first time in a long time I felt myself let go and really get involved in it and enjoy myself, the rest of the world melting away around me. I love working with charcoal and never think to do so on my own. It felt good to be actually doing something. The teacher was really great and encouraging as well, I felt pretty good afterwards - in the past I have come away from life drawing classes frustrated because I can't draw people. I'm not sure if its because I'm a bit older now so am over that, but frankly I didn't care about being able to draw a person I just really enjoyed myself and let myself go. There was also gin which is always useful.

There is a walk in class in Angel I've been meaning to check out for a while and I think I'm going to start going every couple of weeks. Charcoal under my fingernails is satisfying.

Also the shop is INCREDIBLE and you should check it out if you are ever in that part of town. They have a really great exhibition of Mervyn Peake paintings in there at the moment which is worth checking out and just a really great collection of oddities, I pretty much wanted to buy everything. I am a bit sad I didn't get to touch any Dodo bones though....
